I absolutely love denim, heels and a cozy knit. These Asos jeans I bought 2 years ago, have this distressed paint splatter thing going on that I am kinda obsessed with. Give me a great pair of jeans, a sweater, and some rockin heals, and I'm out the door. Cropped, cardigan, or chunky sweaters all can do no wrong, and can be so versatile. I have featured these pumps before, and have gotten plenty of wear out of them since snagging them a few years back.

Layering Shades of Gray

Layering Shades of Gray

I love pairing different shades and textures of the same color. Something about the less is more look is totally chic to me. Going monochromatic will make you look at the things you already own in a whole new way. Adding pieces like a duster coat is an easy way to layer up for the winter. You could even go one step further and add a printed blanket scarf. I linked some of my favorite blanket scarfs below.

New York City for the Weekend

New York City for the Weekend 600

This past weekend, I spent Saturday and Sunday in NYC with my brother. If you don't already know, I am so in love with this city. I have my favorite restaurants and shops I like to go to, but I always try and experience something I haven't before. And with a city like New York, you'll never run out of new places and new experiences. I realize it's pretty rare to love all the restaurants you go to when your trying new ones, but this trip I can't find anything wrong with any that I got to visit.

Saturday, we did a little shopping, then we went to a pop up restaurant in Bryant Park, Celsius. This two story glass enclosed bar and restaurant with a view of the skating rink was the perfect mid afternoon stop off. Besides the yummy comfort food and specialty cocktails, you can sit outside on the heated deck in comfy couches and chairs. Despite how freaking cold it was this weekend, it was so warm on the deck that you didn't even need your coat.

Outfit details below

Dinner: Saturday night for dinner my brother and I met up with one of my friends I went to high school with. He told us about another pop up restaurant on the 14th floor of Eataly called Baita. If you haven't been to Eataly before, this is a total must. This roof top, glass enclosed restaurant adorned with fur wrapped polls and skis hanging from the ceiling is designed to look just like a cozy Aspen ski lodge and is open until March.  I had asked the waiter what the best dish was on this rustic Italian menu, and he recommenced the Maiale Alla Birra, which is braised pork shoulder -- and it did not disappoint.

Drinks: We then went for drinks at what might possibly be one of the coolest places I have been to in New York. Raines Law Room is 1920s vibe lounge with a door buzz entrance. Once you are allowed in, you'll notice a windowless, super dim lit atmosphere, private tables with velvet couches and sheer curtains, and buzz assistance for the waitress to know you're ready to order. The drink menu is super unique -- I got the South Side Ricky.

Sunday Brunch: My friend, Matt, hit another home run when he told my brother and I to go to Cookshop. If you can, try to make a reservation because it seems like everyone knows how good the food is.  While you're waiting, pick from one of their 5 Bloody Mary Recipes, I had the Classic. Once my brother and I sat, we started with the Chamomile Tea, Beignets, and the Skillet Pancake. If you have a sweet tooth like I do, omg you have to try these. I then moved on to the Roasted Broccoli and Cheddar Scramble, and my brother had the Oven Baked Sunnyside-up Eggs that he said were some of the best eggs he has had.
